Sempre tive uma dúvida sobre ns, queria saber qual e a vantagem de ter mais de 2 name servers.

    Normalmente quando se utiliza dns locais no próprio servidor é normal utilizar duas entradas como ns1 e ns2.seudominio.

     

    Usar 3 ou 4 entradas ocorre quando utiliza-se um cluster dns com redundância, nestes casos cada entrada responde a 1 IP diferente e geolocalizado.

     

    Claro, isso seria a configuração padrão e recomendada no entanto já vi muita empresa com até 4 entradas ns configuradas no mesmo servidor, o que acredito ser apenas um "enfeite" já que na pratica não teria nenhuma vantagem.

    Hoje em dia o  "ICANN" https://www.icann.org/  para varias razões exige 2 ou mais em ip's e geolocalização diferentes, alem de todos site comercial para ser "COMPLIANT" ter ceritificados SSL

    Na minha opinião, utilizar estas entradas podem ser perigosas se o servidor onde elas são criadas não ficar 100% online. Pois se o servidor principal cair, o resto cai tudo junto pois não estará respondendo adequadamente aos dns.
